Age assessment in forensic context is important both for the dead and the living. For the dead it isa required step in constructing a biological profile, which can then be compared to missingpersons. For the living it is essential to determine whether an individual is an adult or child whenthere are doubts about the claimed age. Knowing someone’s age and identity is important to solvequestions of adoption, imputability, pedopornography, child labor, and illegal immigration.Prof. Cameriere will provide an overview of anthropological and dental methods for agedetermination in living. In the afternoon session students will gain experience putting in practicetheir knowledge.
